The big 8.1 magnitude quake happened on Sept. 8 with was 2 days after the full moon.
Sept 20 was new moon. The original quake was 8.4, the USGS lowered it to 8.1 as usual.
We are just a few days after the new moon. Actually the original 8.4 quake was even closer to the new moon. While the full moon can also cause tidal stress, the new moon is even stronger because both the moon and the sun are pulling on the same side with gravitation. As the earthquake was not enought, volcano Popocatepetl erupted the same day killing 15, as you can see at the other link below.
There is a school of thought among serious geologists and meteorologists to the effect that major hurricanes may precipitate earthquakes. I have SEEN this myself! I have watched hurricanes precede earthquake for several years.

Earthquakes and volcanoes patterns are serious. The liklihood of imminent major seismic events is high.
