Jan 23, 2019 - Russia and Japan to end WWII Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese PM Shinzo Abe held a summit affirming their commitment to signing a peace treaty over their dispute over the Kuril Islands. The islands have strong economic potential, with oil, natural gas, and valuable minerals, as well as fishing. 33 killed in fire in Kyoto Japan
July 17, 2019 - A fire at Japanese studio kills 33 after man set building alight. Most of the dead and injured were workers at Kyoto Animation. The fire started in the 3 story building after the killer sprayed liquid accelerant near the front door. Abe has been suffering from ulcerative colitis for many years. Abe apologized saying, “It is a pity that I was unable to resolve the abduction issue myself. Feb 20, 2021 Authorities warn of water level drop at damaged Fukushima nuclear plant after recent 7.3 earthquake. Japan sounded the alarm after the cooling-water level in two wrecked reactors at the Fukushima nuclear plant began falling following a powerful earthquake in the area last week.
