The US Navy has said it deliberately refrained from asking India’s consent for a freedom of navigation patrol because New Delhi’s demands to do so contravene international law.

A guided missile destroyer, the USS John Paul Jones asserted navigational rights and freedoms approximately 130 nautical miles west of the Lakshadweep Islands, inside India's exclusive economic zone [EEZ]. India believes it has the right to demand permission in line with the UN Convention of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) it joined in 1995. The US, however, never signed that convention, and currently challenges excessive maritime claims by more than a dozen countries

May 11, 2021 The guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61) seized a massive shipment of illicit weapons last week that was being transited through the North Arabian Sea. A Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk launched from the USS Monterey helped stopped the stateless dhow vessel on May 6. The cache of weapons included dozens of advanced Russian-made anti-tank guided missiles, thousands of Chinese Type 56 assault rifles, and hundreds of PKM machine guns, sniper rifles and rocket-propelled grenades launchers.

Lt Col. Matthew Lohmeier, commander of 11th Space Warning Squadron at Buckley Air Force Base Colorado, was relieved from his post Friday by Lt. Gen. Stephen Whiting, the head of Space Operations Command. Whiting had lost confidence in Lohmeier’s ability to lead. The decision was made based on Lohmeier’s comments on a recent podcast.

A commander of a U.S. Space Force unit tasked with detecting ballistic missile launches has been fired for comments made during a podcast promoting his new book, which claims Marxist ideologies are becoming prevalent in the United States military.

Lohmeier, a former instructor and fighter pilot who transferred into the Space Force, published a book titled "Irresistible Revolution: Marxism's Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military."

Lohmeier was on a podcast to promote the book.
