Dec 10, 2019 - At least 5 ( 13 ) killed after Bay of Plenty White Island Whakaari volcano erupted. 47 people were on the island at the time. 8 people remain missing, believed dead, on the island. 31 people are being treated at New Zealand hospitals. Police have seen no signs of life in reconnaissance flights, and they do not believe there are any more survivors on the island. Richmond, Virginia honeymoon couple were severely burned.
