Aug 5, 2020 - Officers assaulted in Portland. A riot broke out in Portland overnight, a group blocked traffic, forcing firefighters responding to a nearby house fire to reroute. Officers declared the gathering an unlawful assembly because of criminal activity,. Some rioters threw objects at officers and flash strobe lights, bright flashlights, and laser pointers in their eyes. Officers arrested Zachary Perry, 23, of Portland. While they were making the arrest, police had items thrown at them. Travis Hessel, 27, was charged with assaulting an officer.
