Jordan strained ties with Israel
July 24, 2017 - An Israeli security guard was attacked by a local carpenter who was there fixing furniture. The guard opened fire, killing the attacker as well as the landlord, who was also on the premises. Following the incident, one of the terrorists relatives called for the Israeli security guard to be harshly punished.
Usually the security guard and the embassy team would be brought back to Israel immediately. But now Jordan will not allow the security guard to return to Israel, despite his diplomatic immunity, and is demanding to interrogate him.
Palestinian terror leaders have been inciting violence, and Jordan has been fanning the flames surrounding Temple Mount. Tensions already exist over Temple Mount security following the July 14 Palestinian terror attack.
Muslim attacks Israeli in Amman Jordan
July 24, 2017 - Terror attack on Israeli embassy official in Jordan. An Israeli security official serving in the Israeli embassy in Amman, Jordan, was attacked and wounded by a terrorist in his home adjacent to the embassy. Muslim terrorist was shot and killed in self defense.
Furniture was being moved into the home of the security officer of the embassy when 2 Jordanian workers stabbed the Israeli officer. After he was wounded, the Israeli official opened fire. The Jordanian owner of the home was killed.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke on overnight Sunday with Einat Schlein, Israel's Ambassador to Jordan, and with the deputy security officer.
