Rep. Ron DeSantis had just left just before the shooting. As he walked to his car, a man asked DeSantis if it was Republicans or Democrats practicing. 3 minutes the shooting began.

Rep. Steve Scalise and his aid were shot, Alexandria, Va. Someone opened fire on a baseball field where congressional Republicans were practicing and many shots heard.

Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana, a true friend and patriot, was badly injured but will fully recover. Our thoughts and prayers are with him. 7:48 AM - 14 Jun 2017. President Trump addressed the nation before noon and revealed that the assassin died in police custody.

Matt Mika and Congressional aide Zack Barth were also shot.
Mika was shot multiple times and was in critical condition.
Special Agent Crystal Griner was shot in the leg.

Rand Paul was in the cage waiting for one more turn at the plate when shots rand down on the field. Paul heard 50 to 60 shots and saw Scalise trying to drag himself through the dirt out into the outfield. Paul believed the shooter reloaded, and he described the gun as sounding like an AR-15.
