Putin, Assad in Sochi
Nov 21, 2017 - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syria President Bashar Assad agreed in Sochi to start addressing Syria’s political situation now that the terrorists are defeated. Putin insisted that diplomacy should go forward under UN. Assad hoped for Russia’s help in ensuring that the Syrians themselves lead the process. Putin made sure that Assad toed the Moscow line. Putin will phone US President Donald Trump and other Middle East leaders. Russian army controls parts of the Mediterranean coastland, Iran controls the Damascus region and Syria’s two border regions with Lebanon and Iraq and their highway connections. Saudi Arabia has scheduled a meeting of Syrian opposition leaders in Riyadh. Dec 3, 2017 - Al Harra is halfway between Damasus and Israel. Israeli air raid Dec. 2 struck Iran chiefs holding a secret conference at the base 50km from the Israeli Golan. Dec 11, 2017 - Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the withdrawal of Russian troops from Khmeimim Airbase, Syria. Putin warned that should the terrorists appear in Syria again, Russia will strike them again.
