A Taiwanese news channel has broadcast by mistake a fictional news alert that said China had launched an invasion, firing missiles at cities and ports surrounding Taipei.

Several news captions declaring a violent attack by China’s People’s Liberation Army had been mocked up for forthcoming security drills, but were broadcast accidentally to Taiwanese viewers.

Taiwan’s government-funded Chinese Television System (CTS) accidentally broadcast a running news ticker April 20 falsely declaring Chinese forces had launched a military invasion of Taipei.

Taiwan governs itself as an independent nation, but China ( #PRC #CCP ) considers the island a part of its territory.
