Crapital One Massive Data Breach
July 30, 2019 - July 19 Capital One Financial Corp (NYSE: COF) announced unauthorized access by an outside individual who obtained personal information of people who had applied for its credit card. 100 million in the United States and 6 million in Canada affected.

The FBI has arrested Paige Thompson. Crapital One claims its unlikely the information was used for fraud or disseminated. Social Security numbers and log-ins not compromised.

Not sold. Right. And the sky isnt blue.

For best protection, freeze your credit
The breach affected 2 groups of people:
Those who applied for Capital One credit cards between 2005 and 2019. The compromised information included names, dates of birth, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.
Existing credit card and secured credit card holders. Data stolen included 140,000 Social Security numbers, 80,000 bank account numbers and information about consumers’ credit scores, credit limits, balances, payment history and transactions. In Canada, 1 million Social Insurance Numbers were compromised.
