California Dive boat fire UPDATE
Nov 30, 2019 - Dive boat Conception fire that killed 34 was exempt from Coast Guard safety regulations. The dive boat on which 34 people died September 2019 in a fire had been given an exemption by the Coast Guard. Conception did not have to have illuminated exit signs. It had smaller escape hatches than those currently allowed. NTSB investigator Jennifer Homendy was taken aback by the small size of the escape hatch.
