Bangladesh PM resigns and flees country
Aug 5, 2024 Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina fled the country via military helicopter after which the army chief announced that an interim government would be formed.

Monday protesters stormed the prime minister’s palace in the capital of Dhaka, demanding Hasina’s resignation.

Aug. 5, 2024 India suspends air and rail travel with Bangladesh. Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina traveled to India. She plans to travel to London.

A plane carrying #Hasina landed at the Hindon AFB. Hasina’s residence in Dhaka was stormed by angry protesters, after news of her departure from Bangladesh became public. A military government has declared itself temporarily in charge of the country.

Indian Railways suspended cross-border travel with Bangladesh. Indian airlines, including Air India canceled flights to and from Dhaka. Border Security is beefing up its presence.
