I saw headline on debka and dug more info on this development, and its been building over the past year, its not new to 2017 August. If I am going to report this, I want to be as understandable as possible. Moscow intervened to maintain Russian influence in Syria and be recognised as a superpower for leverage elsewhere, namely in Ukraine. Iran does not seem to be aligned with Russia for a consensual solution in Syria. Assad may have to share power with some of his opponents, which offers a challenge to Iran. It could also mean that Iran has to withdraw from Syria.
