Sinate Trial Structure Feb 9, 2021 President Donald Trump and his legal team are pleased with the agreement reached between Senate Republicans and Democrats on the trial framework. Senate Republican leadership stood strong for due process and secured a structure that is consistent with past precedent. (Past precedent? for impeaching an officer no longer in office??? ) This will provide opportunity to explain why it is unconstitutional to hold an impeachment trial against a private citizen. SINator Chuck Schumer said they reached a bipartisan deal on how the impeachment trial will be run, with turtle Mitch McConnell and lawyers for Trump. They begin with a 4 hour debate on whether the proceedings should be dismissed. (YAWN) Sen. Rand Paul raised a point of order on the Senate floor on the constitutionality of an impeachment. Nearly half of the Senator say NO, the proceedings are unconstitutional. Following Tuesday #Feb9 debate, each side will have up to 16 hours to present their cases starting at noon #Feb10 Wednesday. Then senators will have 4 hours to question both sides. Should witnesses or documents be subpoenaed, up to 4 hours can be allotted again.
